AVG OF 264.9 MB/S :hail:

defo much quicker on startup by miles and way quicker to get into bf3 and into a server
well worth the purchase :)

also this is the ocz2...and ocz3 on sata 6/gb can hit speeds of 550/600 read/write !!

A good tool to use mate is ATTO > http://www.attotech.com/products/product.php?sku=Disk_Benchmark

I just need a SATA III board then i would be able to get speed like this > http://guru3d.com/article/corsair-force-3-120gb-ssd-review/8

My system boots into windows and im able to actually use my system the second the desktop shows up, My icons in the bottom right are also already there before windows even loads to desktop.

I didn't see the point is using it for games etc, I just use mine for Windows 7 & apps. I still have my games installed and running from my 500GB SATA II HDD, Once your in-game there is no benefit to using a SSD. Things like Pinnacle Studio HD 15, Office 2010 & Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 open in the blink of an eye though. Also thinks like scanning with Malwarebytes & Avast! etc all scan the whole system in like 1 min flat.

Its small things like the above that make having a SSD a god send.

I would definitely 100000% recommend a SSD to anybody. :1 (97):

yea, get what u mean, bout 15-20 sec quicker to load bf3 server but then in game no differance,

only other thing i use it for is my 3d cad cam stuff, pretty big prog so its nice to be able to load it up quicker.

p.s i run linux/windows dual boot so i just used linux inbuilt software for performance measuremant. only use windows for bf3/ rest of time im in linux, so cant be arsed to install anything on it.

when it gets cheaper and u can get a 1tb+ for less than a fortune then transfering movies etc will be good :)

tryed that prog out like u said jar...se below (windows obviously)

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b55/wynter919/Untitled333-1.jpg

peak read at 229 mb/s compared to the peak of 281 mb/s in Linux

Bestter than i expected for windows tbh...EXT3/4 file system is far more effecient that old NTFS, wasnt uncommen for HDD disks in linux to read/write almost twice as fast as windows.
SSD has certainly leveld the playing field for windows :)

P.s that was without the tweak, but same could be said for linux

Is that before or after doing the tweaks in the link? And if it's after, did you do the speed test before to see what diff the tweaks made?

thats a good question, be good to see the comparison.
i will see if i can get the tweeks done on mine later and post those results as well.

havent tried the Windows tweeks yet but got me thinking as to tweeking linux as i use it 99% of the time.

found a nice article with a guy with a slighly higher spec machine than mine running linux mint (running same ext 4 file system, and kernal as my linux), but same ssd vertec ocz 2 getting
244.7 mb/s (average) without tweeks Then after tweeks got:

Max Read Speed: 425.1 Mb/s
Average Read Speed: 359.3 Mb/s

thats not even sata III, thats sata II. def gonna do it...would be sweet if i can bump windows up that much :)
will let u know how it goes later this eve.

That's after doing the tweaks Oats ... I had already read into a lot of info before the drive even arrived, I pretty much popped the drive in then set the tweaks.

Some of the tweaks help performance, Some help prolong the life of the drive by stopping any unnecessary read\writing etc.

One thing i heard about SSD's is it can take a couple of weeks for a brand new drive to reach peak performance state.

That's weird. I got pretty much the same result as you and I've never touched my SSD since it went in last year.

had a quick few tweeks to linux, only done bout half, some of them get a bit complex mofiying code all over the pace which i cant be arsed to do but here is my linux thus far

Thats a max read of 332.9 mb/s up from 281 mb/s...happy with that :)
(havnt got write speed on there , have to do that on start up on linux, not sure how tbh.... but write should be slightly higher so i expect it to be around the 350 mb/s mark :) )

Yeah weird .... Honestly i don't really know a lot about what the "tweaks" actually do, I just read around and done them because everywhere i read recommended then to be done.

think the tweeks like i noticed in linux are more to do with stoping unneccasary writes so prolonging the disk life.
speed of the hard disk is mostly predetermined by how the file struture operates so only a little bit of wiggle room really.

honestly suprised u could squeze so much out of linux tbh...expecting 10-15 mb/s at most.
