after considering how LucasFilm does business, I would put money on it being a pay to play online game. If so it will be right there with microsoft aces, awesome game, but not for my cheap butt.

OK Guys Like most Faithful Star Wars Fans, I went can copped Battlefront on the first day. WELL here's the report!!!

OFF DA FREAKIN CHAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a Sci Fi Verson of JO I mean really! Taking over command posts & camps, One faction of another. I LOVE IT. AND it only reqires 64MB Video not 128MB (Reason I don't play JO) All In all If you Like Joint Ops You'll like Battlefront

I already have the game too...and my opinion is that it's nowhere near like JO (sorry Dre!)...oh I'll give it that it's basically an A&S (assault and secure) game...but as for Andre's comments about it being a sci fi version of JO...UHUH...the vehicles are far too hard to control (especially the airborne ones(unlike JO)) the balancing of health and stuff is a bit crap also...for example...

FIRST SPAWN - I'm on the second mission (Kashyyk...the homeworld of the wookies (that's the big hairy thing called Chewbacca...SOUP))...I've been given one of those well hard-assed big droids to use(u know the one...big thick torso...always runs with its right arm out)...I run in at my first wookie and BLAMMMM...he shoots me right away...sod that!

SECOND SPAWN - I decide to calm down a bit so choose a Droidekar (one of the rolly ones with the shield)...hmmm...this is a very slow mover...click click click click...sod this! (at this point I hit escape and "restart mission")

THIRD SPAWN - I choose a normal everyday "roger,roger" type droid...run into the midst of the enemy and was amazed when I managed to live for some time and claim a few heads too...w00t

The balance of health or hit points taken really needs adjusted...how could I live longer with a roger,roger than with the beefy assault droid thing??? And why is the droidekar so goddamned slow at moving?

I've now finished the game...only got it yesterday and have finished all gametypes (I aint counting "instant action" as a gametype) the maps are soooo small...and this really mucks up any decent sorts of dogfighting or strafing runs in any of the flying vehicles (x-wing,y-wing,tie fighter and tie bomber). You find yourself more often ploughing into a building or a rock formation or getting the "YOU ARE LEAVING THE BATTLEFIELD" message when trying to engage ground vehicles and troops.

Don't get me wrong about this game...visually its very very very good looking...gameplay is also good...the AI is very intelligent (one of the guys see's that you're low on health so runs over to med u)

Gameplay might improve with online servers with bigger sized maps.

PS. Andre...I only have a GeForce FX5200 with 64Mb of mem...and I can play Joint Ops with hardly any problems dawg.

Ok the way i see this game is.......Battlefield 1942 in starwars universe..........it plays the same the AI is poor like in BF 1942, even some of the guns in a strange way look the same, the game is decent enuf and has already lasted me longer than 1942........as i only had that for one day. However it just seems a little rushed, i kno JO has no actual single player, but id rather have that than the really terrible AI like in BF 1942 and Battlefront.......3.5/5

Buy the game if you like SW......however this is no JO beater.....

Ok. Got it. Love it. Report of it:

In my opinion. It's not as much like JO as every1 says. Which to me is a good thing as I'm not fond of JO myself. Yes you are limited to space. But the gameplay is phenominal, If they were to bring out expansion packs or updates I would have a short wishlist like.....


1. Be able to be any of the armies you see throughout the game. ie. Ewoks, Genosians and the Naboo guard.

2. Be able to chat to online players.

3. Resize the maps to be a teeny bit bigger so it ain't JUST as hectic. (although I love the hecticness my fingers need a rest. If its less hectic there would be the chance to talk. Making more like a BHD/JO game, and so makin squads out of it, and helping people get so much more fun out of it.

4. Be able to choose from a layout of the sort of infantry you choose.





Those are just about all the bad points.

Good points:


1.Great AI.

2. Great weapons. (although a limited layout)

3. Great maps! (May post some screenies of maps tomorrow if I remember)

4. Great vehicles.

5. The armour on every different soldier you can pick I think is pretty well done. Dunno what you were talkin about. ( And you have to fold up as the droidika by pressing E )

6. Great grx :mrgreen:

7. Takes more than the 1 shot to kill some1. Which I like.


Basically I love this game so much I'm gonna glue fingers to the box so I can put a marriage ring on it :mrgreen: . Any1 who likes Star Wars in the slightest should love this.

Just one thing to say to that steve...great AI???

they all run to a specific waypoint on ur screen, and shoot at u ...the snipers go in Close quaters and try to shoot ya, and the Rifleman will stand next to ya and shoot...sorry dude but the AI sucks.....i think they may of actually of used BF 1942's AI.......apart from that good game.

Well after buying Doom3 and being totaly unsatisfied with it's multi-player, I will not buy any new games until I find out whether the multi play is good enough.

Multi-player would be alot more fun with possible chat. And non-self updating game list. as you keep losing the server you want to join.

Wolfie the AI are good. I mean in any game you won't get amazing AI. But at least they actually use their weapons. The Jet pack infantry will jetpack, and every1 uses their pistol if they run out of ammo with their primary weapon. They use the vehicles. They follow the aim of the game. They actually shoot at you unlike BHD and JO (even though JO AI is improved from BHD). And they'll med you if they can. I call that pretty good :mrgreen: Oh, and SOME snipers go close quarters. Not all! What else would a rifleman do to you but shoot at you? :?:

Unless of course you are an assault droid running at a wookie...in which case the wookie will kill you straight away...which is very strange...considering an assault droid should have the heaviest form of armour...I've been hit more times with an ordinary "roger,roger" and survived longer than I would with the heavy assault droid...as for the Droideka, I found out about the "e" key by mistake...pity you still die very easily with it though!

I was right about the flying though...no-one likes to be enclosed in a box...flying should be free range!

That seems a little messed up I admit Spammuel. Might just be cuz the furry bugger charged up a multi-shot. By assault droid I presume you mean the Super Droid? Or maybe its the rocket droid you're talkin about. I see what you mean about the flight. still love flying though :mrgreen:

I found out about the droideka by mistake aswell... trying to get in a Gunship :roll:
