A TIN OF COMPO
23rd January 2006, 01:56 PM
For some reason or other my computer has slowed right down. When I check the old task manager I see that explorer.exe is using 94-96% of the cpu resources. Two questions

1. Is this normal?

2. If not normal what shouldI do about it?

Your asssistance in these matters will be greatly appreciated.

possibly, if your system is doing a defrag or virus scan or similar.

take it you've done a re-boot.?

Yep done numerous reboots, no change. have also looked on a rew web sites that are suggesting that there is the possibility that the explorer.exe fole is a virus.

Apparently it should be running as arequired windows programme, however it can be corrupted to pass on details of usage etc to another party. The agreed suggestion is to run without explorer which is neither helpful or realistic.

I shall now on the back of another reboot explore more of the www.
