Found this on a Forum. See if it works.

Or, if your game lets you alt-tab back to windows and then return back again without having a tantrum, you can simply allocate one core to that game in task manager.

Start the game and when in the main menu, alt-tab back to windows. Ctrl-alt-delete to task manager and find the game's executable in the 'Processes' tab. Right click the executable and click 'set affinity.'

A screen will come up listing a large number of 'CPUs,' all of which bar two will be greyed out. Your two CPU cores will be ticked. Simply untick one!

It's really quite simple, so long as it works. Some old games (like Grim Fandango, grrrr!) chuck a spaz every time you alt-tab back to Windows and so don't work. But give it a try.

Note that you'll probably have to do this every time you play the game. But it's still better than disabling dual-core in BIOS.
