On a more serious note, Due to not having insufficient funds to renew it at the moment.
We are having a meeting to see if it is worth while doing this as the game is basically dead, and have no real need for it any longer.
Tis sad day for the regulars that did frequent there, but we have to make a decision as to what to do for the best and the future.
We are trying out several different options/games etc
We have another Teamspeak channel, after we make the decision all things will be made public.

must be 4/5 years now and before I join =A$$= I was nearly alway in yours server kicking your ass's.....and yes that was in the 56k days....and when you took it in turns to host...lol

as I think you know.....the =A$$= s were thinking off going over to BF2,

i had to spend over £200 on cards, ram and hard drive...the only way i could get it to run was to put it on its own drive.......but with my 512 conn i still had problems, think the game is for 1mg or over......and i can't get faster then 512http://www.langkawi.dk/smileys/q40.gif

yep, we have bf2 also and sf. i havent played it, but have watched hubby play it and dont think i would play it. didnt like the look of it, to hard for me. hubby didnt like it either, he uninstalled it again, he says its the biggest load of c**p.

At the moment we're in limbo, looking for a new host due to technical problem's/issues with our current one.

A lot of questions would need to be answered like:
BHD Server: Is it worth having? If we compare this to the BF2 server where the 40 slot server is basically full every night and the BHD server sits dormant with very little intrest, traffic or feedback.
This post alone has generated 180 views yet only 5 people that play in the server have posted. Thats not really a good start. :1 (15):
Like OX has said most of us only used this server for Teamspeak, we have another channel at the moment.
Im sure once we a all get together and talk about the possiblities and get everyones views on it, when the time comes all will be made public.

I think that BF2 is a next generation game and you can't comparte it with BHD.
If you look at the new shoost games they have now day then you see that it's going to be more realistic by the day "like the new game BLACK where you can destroy almost every building in a map".
I like BHD, but I am hooked on BF2 :1 (52): and don't know what comes next:1 (81):

Here's my statement about this.

Yes the server hasnt been as full as it used to (where did y'all go). And it reaches its peak at lets say 20 people max a night for only 2 maps...

Dunno if that's worth paying for it. Personally i havent been playing that much lately due to the lack of players (need atleast 15 to do some decent killing :p) and being tired of gaming as well. BF2, doubt it's gonna happen for me, but i'm hard at work and maybe in the future a system upgrade could sneak in.

So probably we'll all meet again one day. If BHD resurrects (not likely) or a new game comes out that has the same feel (for me) and plays smoothly without loading your system to the max.

It is a shame your BHD server is falling by the wayside. The introduction of Argus seems to have been a major influence, not that your visitors cheated, but because many couldn't get it to work...

We still run our server and it does on some nights get nice and busy, though we would like to see more in there.

On top of that UMF (who made the Black Ops and Final Conflict mods) are developing another new mod called Insurgency which could bring some new blood into the BHD arena.

I never liked BF2 personally - things like dying from an artillary strike the moment you respawned is so damened annoying, bvut many other aspects too. Yes it looks great, but it is a system hog as we all know. It has it's good points, but not enough to win me over.

I still love BHD and Team Sabre. Will still keep playing it too..

BHD is the only PC game I've ever enjoyed or liked, it's the most enjoyable for me. Shame that the number of players dropped when we introduced Argus... It picked up for a few nights in a row then everything dropped again after that; maybe if we introduced Stats maybe we'd get some new faces about, I know how most tins did felt about stats, now that bf2 came along its all about stats, so maybe BHD should have stats again? Might work in getting players back?


And I can't play BF2 because I've got a crap computer! But however... Towards the end of this year might get a new computer and then I'm on my way to bf2, but won't be forgetting BHD at all! Because that's where I learnt how to LAGG :1 (74):

I wouldn't say the server falling by the wayside has anything to do with Argus, saying that it only ran for a trail period and was removed weeks ago before anything hppened to the server lol, also taking into account that there are over 100 bhd/ts servers that run Argus.
Some of the Visitors cheated yes and just used it as their play gound, but not the blatant wall/jump hacks etc people using chams and aimbots which basically the game is infected with thorughout the servers. I know that people say different and basically their intitiled to their opinion as am I. :)

As for Bf2:
BF2 is by far the best up to date FPS, people just either don't have the hardware to run it or don't have the patience/know how to play it/get into it.
Apart from a fairly well balanced game, with good support/fixes (Plus EA/Dice actually listen to the players) and booster packs in the line to come, it's combined along with PB with the right admin running the server it basically runs 99% cheat free if not 100% cheat free and PB can be teamed up with PsB.
PsB runs on over 300+ BF2 Servers with 1030000 accounts (which kinda of blows Nova into oblivion) and the comunity keeps growing which also shows the support the game gets from the community in regards to cheating.

Jo came with PB support, and what did Nova do? messed it all up with their so called fixes, calling it the BF2 killer that kinda blew up in their faces. I used to have a lot of respect for nova which in the last year and half of promises and relations between people that used to work there have been well thrown out the window, I do know that they are working on a new game but to be honest if the game they release looks like the bee's knee's of a game, i'll wait a year to 2 years before i part with any money to them again to see what support it gets if any.
Nova have gained a bad name for themselfs now, and it will take them a long time to climb out of the hole they dug for themselfs.

But we'll have to see what will come out of it all as yet. :)

Bf2 thou graphiclly good looking has too much going on for people to have fun in my opinion at least.

Its why we stopped playing it as a squad as we just did not have the normal fun banter that happens in Bhd games.

Also we got fed up with the following problems with the game thou i know some have been rectified.

1. Very limited map selection if you wished to do as in pt.5
2. Stat watchers.
3. Bunnyhopping/dolphin diving pillocks.
4. Artillery strikes.
5. Lack of gun slections and the fact you have to play on ranked servers and play allot to unlock them.
6. Far to many vehicles and aircraft not enough infantry combat.
7. High system requirements which allot of our players could barely afford.
8. Extreme loading times even on the players system with high specs.

Thats my view of it at least, to me i would like to see Bhd remade with Jo graphics and Nile editor but keep the gameplay the same just add new guns in for the classess etc.

BUNNYHOPPING - To jump around like a demented kangaroo whilst firing ur weapon at people, makes the person doing it very difficult to hit.

DOLPHIN DIVING - To continiously use the fire,crawl and jump keys, thus making ur avatar look as if he's sounding like a dolphin (that's sounding as in swimming shallowly and breaking the suface of the water then going shallow and repeating the manouevre, not sounding as in making a series of high pitched ratchetty squeaking noises) and making him nigh impossible to hit.

Since the last patch neither move is possible, but u still have idiots that jump around to avoid fire.

What really gets me is to hear of these people who continually say that BF2 is the closest thing to a real life war ... what a load of shite. Hands up who'd all...the minute they heard gunfire...stand up and then proceed to continually jump whilst jinking from side to side or moving forward? I can tell u one thing, if it came to fighting a REAL war, I definitely wouldn't want these suicidal clowns anywhere near me. IN REAL LIFE ... NORMAL PEOPLE KEEP THEIR HEADS DOWN WHEN THEY HEAR GUNFIRE!!!!

JO has good scenery which also makes it laggy like hell (especially the grass - on my crappy system at least)

good graphics dont make a game, it's the gameplay.

BHD is still good, but it's just gotten bored for most people (hell we've all been in house of the dead 300000 million times). Some new maps (not Teamsabre ones), buildings, scenery AND bug/glitchfixes along with some anti-cheat thingy would make it much more alive (but for how long in the currently OVERCROWDED FPS genre).

Oh and you dont need NILE to make maps, i've made tons of maps using the DFBHDMED and it worked out just fine.

I guess it speaks volumes that I hadn't even realised the server was down.

For what it's worth.............BHD is old, graphically inferior, bug-ridden, glitchy, laggy and lacks many features that modern games have. But it was more fun than Battlefield Operations Flashpoint Rising 2 (or whatever they're all called, these days.), it could be learned in twenty minutes, it didn't take the processing power of a small Cray to run, it doesn't need Hollywood-standard CGI graphics power to run, it doesn't need a synchronous 4mbit line to play without lag. I've tried all the new ones, Battlefield 2, JO, etc and I just don't get on with them. Fun doesn't seem to be part of those games, sacrificed for more players, bigger maps, more bells, whistles, weapons and tanks.

I hardly play anything on-line these days, life tends to get in the way more, somehow. But I always enjoyed your server, it was one of the best. And I always enjoyed the company I found there, it was some of the best.

Whatever you decide to do won't erase the memories, and that's the important thing. Thanking you all for those memories goes without saying.

I would like to add some short words to say that’s its a great same your BHD server has been shut down.

I've played on the TINS server for quite some time, and I’ve always enjoyed it. I’m still on a 56k connection and the gameplay is almost always quick enough (once you've allowed for the lag!) to have a goods night play.

It will be missed, but perhaps the time has come for a BB connection & BF2.

Sorry I missed the end-game... Had one of those fiscal year-end projects to finish, and that meant living out of a hotel for a few weeks without BHD access...

Anyway, for me it was always the A Tin Of custom maps that made the BHD game the enjoyable experience it was. You guys were also mature (ish) players who neither took it too seriously, nor treated the game like a playground. Catch ya on BF2...maybe.

good idea, I was sickend when I found out bhd was no longer online. but it had been 3 months since I had been in to play, which says a lot considering I used 2 play every day (until bf2). don't know why but bf2 does'nt seem to have the same sense of community.
