I have NOD32 installed and when I run some speed tests all I get is between 2/6meg [I am on 20meg] If I switch NOD32 off my speed jumps to between 16/18 meg. Does anyone know why?.

I have nod32 control center running in the bottom right hand corner of my desktop, It's this if I quit that gives me the increased speed.

If nod32 control center is switched off does that mean all of nod32 is off?

Can you define 'a lot better'? I mean, in what way? Did you find AVG let a lot of viruses through?

Yeah its free if your using a x32bit system, if its a x64bit system the free version will now work! ....

No there is no demo m8, it came out on Friday gone and that the day i bought it, if you liked halo 1 then you will like halo! .... its got better graphics, 24 new maps, a map editor! ..... its better than halo 1.

I didnt actually mean it finds viruses better, it just seems better made! .... after running AVG for about 3 - 4 years then swapping to this i just noticed Avast seems nicer overall cant quite put my finger on why, i just wish id found it earlier!

With Halo2 don't you have to pay for multi-player.

Nope, there are three types of accounts .... bronze is a offline account if you dont have a internet connection, theres the silver account that is free and allows free online multiplayer and theres a gold account that cost just under £5.00 a month and that allows for multiplayer, voip (voice over ip) and to unlock online achievements, the achievements dont mean anything you just get badges for say killing 4 people in 4 seconds, running somebody over, sniping somebody ect....... with the silver account these achievements can only be unlocked in single player!

Oh and the gold account allows for matchmaking, but its not very good.... really all it does is matches you up with people with the same gaming experience!

Basically the gold account is a ripoff..... you get a free one months free gold trial with the game.

My main objective for an AV probram is that I never see the thing, and as long as I'm virus-free that's how it stays. I'm trying to picture what you're doing with it that makes you say 'i wish I'd found it earlier'.

You should call with ELV at work sometime. I bet he'd have you leaving with a new car :1 (77):

Its like putting vista against xp, they both basically do the same thing, vista just seems smoother and looks better, has a few extra features.....

Im not trying to knock AVG dont get me wrong its a great AV as i said i used it for 3-4 years.

Heres some features of avast! ...

it has VRDB (Virus Recovery Database)

The aim of VRDB is to help when, despite all the security measures, a virus gets inside the computer and the files are infected. With the help of VRDB, it is possible to repair many infected files (return them exactly to their original state). i set this automatically wherever my monitor turns off, it will stop as soon as i move the moues to bring the monitor back on!

I agree with jar on this one, AVG went downhill with talk of the M$ sell out not sure what happend in the end but all the big free resourse sites like Major geeks were telling us to bin avg and try avast,

Seems to be a little less noticable than avg when updating etc and seems to monitor a few more things.,

Like jar said they both do pretty much the same avast just seems to do it a little better!

"Seems to be a little less noticable than avg when updating etc and seems to monitor a few more things.,"

Except it updates every single day, which seems a bit overkill sometimes.

But, hey, it's free.

I like 'free'.
