Seeking some advice re: AVAST anti-virus:
http://www.download.com/3000-2239_4-10747101.html
Anyone ever used it, or have any idea if its any good? I believe its used extensively with big companies like banks.
Your assistance much appreciated.

I have and always have used AVG. Free and never had a virus or spyware problem to date.

Dude.. Both of those articles are dated Febuary.. It was around christmas 06 that m$ announced that they had brought into avg and ever since it has just gone down hill..
Now dont get me wrong both avg and avast are great antiirus tools.. But for me the proof is in the pudding and from extensive use of both my opinion cannot be changed that as we stand today avast is simply easier to use, Less intrusive and more effective.

Yip well done. It was Feb 07 and a whole two month's had passed since MS had bought into AVG and it still beat the pants of Avast.
Everyone is going to say i think mine is the best because thats the way life is. I'm just stating some FACTs from professionals who tested them in a controlled enviroment.
Anyway hope you all stay safe form Virus's!! Whatever program you use.

Only joking! Its for my Dad, he was recommended to try Avast rather than Norton like he normally does, as Norton is supposed to hog a lot of processor power and slow your pc down bigtime. Wanted to make sure Avast would be ok for him, as its to protect business pc's.

Doing great thanks. Been a mad sorta year... some bad stuff, some good. Been ultra busy at work in my quest to take over the world. Hardly had time to sleep for long stretches, so when I have had slightly less busy times I've tried to get a few hours with the family. TUNA and PEACHES both at Uni now so I usually only see them at weekends anyway. 2 of them at Uni is feckin expensive btw, for those of you who still have that to look forward to :1 (94):
Still look in regularly, even if it's usually a flying visit to keep in touch with things. I'm afraid to look at what LEAD's been up to without me looking over his shoulder :1 (88):

I have found that grounding my pc has prevented it picking up any nasty viruses from other pc's. Any that come to visit are vetted before contact is allowed.
