hi folks, the WM10 thread reminded me i haven't mentioned my cure all for codec probs , and it's this http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm
the realalternative and quicktime alternative let you play real and QT stuff on media player classic and also on WM9/10. there are a whole host of other codecs and encoder and decoders. it's bets to just let the default selections install as some conflict if farted about with.
the Klite codec pack includes all these things:-
this list is for teh mega codec pack. the full codec pack is the same but minus the real alternavtive and the QT alternative.

there is also a funky tool called GSpot. if you ever get a file and when you open it, or indeed you can't open it, open it with Gspot and it will tell you what codec is used and all the other details you will need to play it . very nice and simple tool indeed.
