Lag its not big or clever

ive been apparently labelled with the tag of lagger several times now, so any tips on running the game /pc so i can do as much as possible to prevent it my end?

i got TS running and game, thats it. i share a 512k broadband with my flatm8 and he runs 2 pc's for star wars galaxies (dont help i would imagine) but ive got a green dot 95% of the time and an average ping to server of anything from 2 to 189 (checked b4 logging to server over last few days)

now i now how frustrating it is to pump lead into people and see nought happen but i kinda take the game for what it is... so any ideas, ive even uninstalled msn and as much background services as possible.

df3 i played on dial up, lol now that was lag!

pc spec:
2.2 athlon
gig of ddr ram
geforce 5900 128mb

hey dont get me wrong, im not pointing any fingers just was asking if anyone knew any tips, like does xp run something in background or alter a setting or summat :;):

perhaps i should change my tag to McDag the Lag?

well, when i move in the spring im getting bigger pipe for broadband, so hopefully double or triple me speed, heh seconds thoughts, you guys can kill me easier.........hmmmmmm, lol

We all draw on that infamous word from time to time McD...it's just as Eric (SOBE) said...calling someone a "lagger" in TINSPEAK is basically just our way of saying "man...am I crap at this game or what?"

I take it as a compliment. The only ppl who don't "lag" are those who die loads and never kill anyone.

If you are experiencing LAG then from what you have told is this IS because of ur netowrk and ur flatm8 sharing ur con.. We know for a fact that when other tins that have a spouse or a cadet on a network they LAG too.. So to have a lag free gameu need to disconect ur m8 im afraid!

We had to upgrade to a 1mb connection, we were on 512k and sometimes it went up to 4 ppl on the same connection. 3 PCs and a ethernet adapter on the PS2 :twisted:

hmmm, food for thought there, technically its his flat so im stuck that way, oh well, i,ll get my own pipe when move house, heh
and he;s not using both of em that often, and im lag free upto 8:45pm some nights when im solo in house so not that bad.

no xp tips, got sp2 running, i know you could tweak the dial up settings to get bit more outa it

thx chaps, comforting words, takes a while to get the group level for a while, but you guys, tops, havent laughed so much on TS. i'll talk more later, promise, lol
