Here is a fairly simple question. I am using a BT wireless router, with my BT line. As this has been broken, in that the main modem cable keeps falling out, due mainly to A Tin Of INK breaking it, can I now use a new router, namely a AOL one and just plug it in, or is it like mobile phones that only allow the service provider to use the same equipment if u see what I mean.

Anyway all support as normal through the usual channels, along with the normal slagging that anyone gets on these forums for what are simple questions but huge insurmountable problems to others.

Many thanks.:1 (97):

There are 2 types of router

1, adsl router
2, Cable router

Cable routers are mainly used for Virgin media services in the uk,

U can use any adsl router for any adsl connection and the same for cable.

U just cant use a cable router on an adsl line

( Im guessing U dont have adsl2+ )
