View Full Version : Is it just me?

OK, here's the scenario:

1 of your team mates has gone into the enemy occupied zone and made an appointment with some lead. Now he starts telling you where they all are, for example:

Player: They're on me
Player: 2 on the stairs
Player: nade me

and so on.

Is it just me that sees this as effectively cheating and gets really annoyed with it? I remember back to Action Quake 2 where they changed it so the dead couldn't speak (like in real life), made it a much better game IMO.

So, am I alone in this or do people accept it as fair play?

Great point!

I have thourght this for a long time....

I say " Lets make a big deal of it! "

Lets get some voices heard on this and tell Nova...

It is a good point. The game has almost been designed to allow this to happen, with the view rotating to let you see around while you are lying dead. This can let you see the location of the person who killed you when you might not have seen him before.

I agree it would be more realistic to deny the ability to text when dead, so if the game can be modified to do that I would say that would be good. Maybe kill the view too, again more realistic. This would make a big difference to people who have found a good hiding spot and in matches particularly.

This hadn't really bugged me before as I had just accepted it as part of the game. Now you have mentioned it I guess it's gonna really tick me off whenever it happens  .

Well I've always found it annoying - too often have I found a perfect place but then been found by some1 who lay there for at least 30 seconds looking for me.

I then can't go back to spot again :x So I was always hoping that Joint Ops would maybe solve that problem?

good point :!: I also just sucked it up as part of the game......on the other hand normally a nade or a 203 round doesnt always kill everyone in the area, my point, if you couldnt talk then one person could hold the zone and no one would ever have a chance of take over with out tips from your team. Forinstance the stock map with the hotel one guy could easily hold that zone if you couldnt tell the others where he is :!: IMO

is it a bit weird also though ..that you are dead but can be revived??not very realistic...so maybe u are just badly wounded...hence being able to see still ;)

and you cannot just feel well in about 2sek....
it is a bit stupid with medics but it's also a bit good to have sometimes...Don't you think?

Yeah what elv says makes sense, cos you cant be revived when you've been shot in the face which is realistic enough  but when your shot in the chest you can be helped. seems ok to me 8O

Good points made by all.

The change in the game would have to come from not allowing the dead person to see at all. Red/Black Screen. This would also prevent those wha had been revived just lying there for a long time and spotting for their team in the zone.

Just preventing them from speaking whilst dead will not be enough now everyone uses programmes like Team Speak

What i think should be done is you can stay dead, BUT your screen is blacked out and all you can see is the map of where your team is, so you can still be revived but not know where the enemy are around you.

Hi all, posting on the forum for the first time, just thought i'd stick my oar in this 1.

Its a good point and i can see the problem if your holding the zone. But if the dead player calls for a med, it's nice to know if someone is still on him.

It could be argued that its the meds responsibility to clear before meddin, but when someone is screamin for medical attention you tend to go in blind. People aint patient and theres nothin worse than tryin to med someone, when they respawn leavin you with your med pack out and pretty dead but thats another point. :x

But all said and done i will not be doing it anymore.

 Agreed. Maybe if they just see that map-like screen and lose the ability to speak it wud be fairer.

Your not dead, youre only wounded till your medic timer wears out. Not only that but in our server (BTU) you dont really have time to talk except for the "dead time". The dead forward observer has been a problem since df1. You can simply growl at anyone who does it on your side if you want to create a no observer rule.

I like to fake running off, and hide close by, then kill the medic right after he revives the first guy, then kill the first guy again. I have actually trapped four or five meds in a pile this way, what fun!!!

heh, 'med baiting' is real fun, special if two or more meds are reviving each other, avoid head shots and you can rack up 10 or 12 kills in a row..

Med baiting, to funny

Heres something just as sadistic, Why cant u execute the partially dead or the not quite dead, double tap in the head job done

My personal favourite is clayin the recently badly wounded and waiting for the med to go boom, lol

:?: well i dont know how i but iread all posts and agree with them all, but for me, unrealistic or not, in a 3v3 senario its not only a god send, but a much valued source of entertainment! as for a match? well we should at least have the chance to switch it of. i have not voted! very good point tho!

When I was playing last night this really annoyed me, as I could see enemy dead bodies lieing about all over our base, you hardly had time to get your bearings before being shot in the head, but I'm a sucker for this kinda thing, I'll just bash the space bar for a quick respawn, and let the whole thing happen again - Doh!

Anyway I don't wanna repeat anything thats already been said, but maybe Nova should build in an option in the game/server options to allow or disallow the Dead Observer View, that way if the host wants it turned off they can, if not they can leave it on (like tracers) and when it is turned off if all they see is a map, it wont mater if they can talk or not, or use team speak either as they'll only see there own teams positions.

i agree with all of you really, though i must admit i did do the naughty thing once a while ago and it worked well for my team mates...

however i was thinking (and this isnt going to be a list OATS, and i didnt spend all day doing it OX) that when u are shot dead, u die and cannot respawn until the next game starts.

this would only work if the games were really quick though... and i'm not sure that bhd is the place for quick games.

I do think that maybe once ur dead u should respawn from the beginning with no med help and that the meds job should be to only give medical help to the wounded to make them green again ie from when you go yellow or red from little shots to the knee or something.

 , A sort of last man standing, you'd also have to have rules that joining players would have to wait until a fresh map was loaded, and the game auto cyles to the next map once 1 or less players remains. (just incase the last 2 men alive blow each other up at the same time)

you could also have health pickups, that'd make the game last slightly longer

Unreal tournament has somthing similar

Unreal 2003 Rocks, but BHD still kicks it's ass - Whooho

I noticed something that shows proof you are not dead after you are shot .

try this experiment - Have a mate from the other side kill you. Then have them shoot your "dead" body. Hear all the oofs and grunts? thats coming from YOU, because your not dead. This proves your not dead till the timer wears out. I still dont think being a fallen forward observer is in good taste, but this experiment proves my point about your deadness. I should know, im undead.

On Bang your dead maps, there IS a way to make it a one shot and your dead map in the DF series. I would tell you how but then I'd have to kill ya.

tell ya what, I'll give you a hint....
It has to do with how you arrange the respawns.

Hi all
I agree the dead should stay dead....calling for meds ok... you in red and you say 1 blue on my right is cheating i think... On the good side of it... it keeps JOK3r and ELV quiet for 1 or 2 minutes(sorry)hehe
