MW2 PC Play

Ok here is my little bit on MW2....

Firstly what a huge install 11/12 Gig 2 disc's.
Load up was ok through Steam it was the silly activation that was annoying, they send you a confirmation slip with a confirmation code to show authentication.

The graphics are awesome, the Guns are very realistic and the gameplay is faultless with the transition from MW1 to MW2 to storey carries on.

The single player mode is very good and the different Cities/Countries all flow with the storie line...
You go from being a PFC to playing another caracture then someone else as you make your way around the world.
The missions are very good fun!!!
The Ice Mission gives you that real sense of coldness when you make your way through the hangers onto the runway, and the Snow Mobils are great fun, I managed to hit a couple of trees but I was at full belt.....You gotta try it.I wont give too much away about the end og the mission but Evil Kenevil would struggle.

The Shanty town is good, all the narrow passages and roof tops, enemy come at you from everywhere.

You have the option to skip a Map/Level but I didnt.
Whats the point of playing it if you are going to skip levels.
The level in question is the Airport, you have a really big Boom stick and get to rampage through an Airport killing anything that moves.
The senseless violence of killing innocent people, but then again its all part of the storey.

I think that I have managed to play about 6/7 levels and I am hooked on single player, I have tried a little Multi, the maps are very well constructed and the availabillitie to run anywhere in the buildings is good.
You canyt hide for long as there is a constant UAV, spoils it a bit.

Reaper had reached level 8 when I spoke to him today so he is in a better possition to give you guys feedback on how the Multi side of it works....

Overall this game is Kickass, sorry to say.
But I still want Dedies back the same as every other PC user.

Personally i think the single player is mint, I would say better than COD4.

The graphics are alot better than COD4, The guns are alot nice & sound alot better, The lvls are great and look stunning.

Ive never tried the on-line part of the game yet so cant really comment on that. I think ill complete the single player before i move to on-line.

So far great SP game, I just hope the MP don't disappoint.

Game plays fairly well online, had a few issues today with dropped servers etc which really screams for dedicated servers required but as thats never going to happen no matter what the PC community says i guess the game will be fine until BF2 Bad Company comes out.

I agree with Jude, very good game, graphics are excellent 1900x1200 and full settings look real sweet :1 (97):

Multiplayer can't say I have had any real issues with it, up to lvl 18 and loving it, apart from bunny hoppers, which you will get any server, including TIN, unless admin are in of course :1 (97):, do you class going straight to prone as dive bombing or jump then prone, I take is as the latter, as I see no issue with the first one, as this is what you would do if someone was raining bullets on you....

I would have liked the inclusion that weapon is disabled on jump..then again I would like dedi support also, I did notice in the configs that they have not removed the lines for dedicated servers, so you never know :1 (92):

Was even impressed with the switch over when host leaves the game, 20 secs and backup and running no problem.

All in all, a most enjoyable experience, and all those perks and kill streaks to mess around with......

Killcam is not on in hard coremode IceKing and UAV is not permament in any mode it is in the same format as COD4.

You can get Thermal Scopes and Heartbeat sensors that wirk like a UAV but these can be blocked with perks, plus the UAVs can be shot down with stingers.

Had my first night on tonight.Damm fine game great gfx and easy gameplay.
Good fun game types and no real aggro.
No ingame chat tho in all the games i played,not even the odd loll etc so very impersonal.
It will be hard w/out dedi servers and I now reall y hope they happen as it will be mind blowing to get a server with full control running i think.
Havent seen a map i havent liked yet.

Took 1.5 hours for steam to sort its s***e out then had time for a game or 2.
1. Gameplay, maps, weapons, perks etc all excellent.
2. Bunnyhopping/dolphin-diving (not going prone to shoot, that's ok) a right royal pain in the a**.
3. Dedicated servers, oh how I wish, hate this console way of doing it and it almost makes me get rid of the game.
4. In game chat is only used by moaning yanks, no offence, but that's all I've heard. Just because I like to camp a little bit and don't want to go running blindly or bunny hopping round corners like they like to do.
5. Stealth bomber is massive but misses the target (just like the real thing).

Just my take on things but will play it till Battlefield comes out next year.

I thought Dolphin Dive was going from a jump straight to prone, or is that classed a Dive Bombing...oh I don't know.....

On a different note, as anyone played the Spec Ops yet....had ago last night with my mate, and thinks it superp....nothing like I have played before, there are something like 40 diffferent missions to do and unlock, excellent fun and very hard some of them on Veteran....but seems like loads of player ability as they all seem to be time based and stuff, so you keep pushing yourself to get better..

The first mission you do is the training compound from single player, where u have toi shoot all the targets without hitting any civilians...32.46s we did it in last night and was quite pleased with that...but think there is still room for improvement :1 (64):, but the sniper im the snow, sneaking through the woods avoiding the patrols and taking out lone gaurds, is edge of your seat stuff...well worth a look.

But I am very sure that if you do go and get MW2, you will love it?
The graphics are sweet as.
The AI in single player do test you even on Normal entry level.
The multi player is OK and does seem to work.
The big problem here in game is that we do not have to abillity to kick people or warn them against the way they play.
Now every team has its rules and The Tins is no exception and I do everything that I can to stay inside the rules.

I was not impressed the other day with you with the comment you posted but I have said nothing?

I did sign the petition against the way that IW have released thios game and the fact there is no dedies or mods allowed is crap.
The issue I have is yes its going to get downloaded but then you are playing right into the hands of IW by proving that PC users are Pirates. Where the first copies to get Pirated were Xbox360.

I have brought the game and I have 2 copies 1 for me and 1 for my son.

As a Call of Duty Vet (have played them all)
I felt that I needed this game for the single player mode and to finish the storey.
I said that I would try the servers and see how they play.

Yes there are issues but this game has only just been released and there are going to be problems.
The internet play is OK all the time you have a good connection and if the host drops outr it passes on to the next best host?
The game pauses for about 5/10 seconds and then continues.
The major prob is not being able to control the way of play....Bunny hoppers and Divers? Im not sure about any cheats but Im sure people are using them with the way that they play?

I for 1 am really enjoying this game, I know I slated the company that have released it and yes I know for a fact that everyone that is playing it in the tins loves the game and weapons but feel the same about dedies and mods, we want to be able to run our own servers to our rules.

Its crap you cant even play and install the single player option without Internet connection and verification.
Every game I have had in the past you can at lest play single player without net?

What Im trying to get at is.....You cannot go into a forum and call people names just because they have got the game.
I got it and I cancelled my pre order but I then ordered it again, it is a princible thing im sorry to say.
And thats my point, You have a freedom of choice so we should have a freedom of choice how we wish to play this game.

My internet connection is rubbish.

Pausing the game for 5-10secs is boring (aka headquarter respawn times)

Cheats are rampaging - no one can control them and lets face it, if we waited for someone to spot the cheat, figure it out, write a code to fix it, make the patch available for it blah blah.... its a lot longer than taking a screenshot on rcon and booting them.

There are more people downloading this game illegally BECAUSE of the dedicated server issue.

Did a few of you guys not get hacked in steam and wiped out your entire games and profiles, then Steam refused to allow a re-download, basically you lost your £30-£50 games ? Remember seeing this somewhere!

I didn't loose all my games, I just cant play on any on-line VAC secured servers, I can still play my off-line games.

I still feel like i was screwed over by steam ... Especially as steam know it wasn't me hacking as i had my account hacked at the time of the hacking :1 (65): lol.

i have been playing the game at hells house, thought it was a great game.

I havent played single player just multi thought the weapons were great also the perks

like the way you can change what you get for kill streaks

the only problem with the game witch is a big problem is the servers

was playing on a server and it was playing great no lagg then the host leaves it paused to get new host, then the lagg set in then then server shut down so start again more lagg then last time so find new server only a little lagg

but its still lagg we need dedicated servers if we get then the game would be one of the greatest i would have played


i want to go out and buy it but if the dedicated servers dont come i dont think many tins will be playing for long

Operation flash point didn't sell a fraction of the copy's cod sold! ... they will have done that to help boost sales from there pc fan base they had from back in the day ... cod don't need to do that ... it sold nearly a million copy's in 24 hours 99.9% of those will have been consoles.

On the dedi server side.
Last night there were 9 tins online, on TS and in MW2, there wasnt a massive amount of aggro involved in getting our own game going now with a few regulars on TS etc we could be playing amongst friends every night and not worrying about any side issues that are out there now.

Have you sorted out the graphics issue yet mate and your computer? You made us all lagg like anything hahaha.

I know that when I play COD4 or WAW I tend to have game issues, like game freez or it quits back to desktop but I can honestly say this COD MW2 is pukka, I have had no probs like that.

We all had fun last night in MW2 and if it was all tins and the odd Wannabe LOL (ME) then there would be no Bunnys or Divers, just good old fashioned waw play.

I still love the graphics and the weapons but the net side is shite still as we did have a couple of issues with hosts and connection issues.

Jude if you read forums m8 there is a bug that needs fixing as alot of people are getting the same error,its not my connection its a driver conflict
when i was hosting the private server last nite we had no lagg till you joined :)

everyone is entitled to their own opinion and yes I would mark it alot higher if there was dedicated servers... All of us are gamers and online and or LAN Gamers and not having the ability to have dedicated servers is catastrophic and foolish. Do you know - I love it - OK I know no dedi servers - but played last night with some tins and steam made it quite eay to find them - so ok no dedi servers but can still play with mates.

Graphics Awsome - new maps, I love the challange of finding those little corners and learning all over again.

With WAW i was not impressed from the outset but with MW2 I am hooked within 10 minutes of playing.

I have apologised to my wife told her she will not see me for a while, but on the upside won't be pestering her for - well you can guess.

KINGPIN,,,yeah im getting the same but then i play around with different guns and perks ,,i use the scar which is ace at mid range and distance but it has a slow rate of fire so close up it sucks ... when i come up against some one with a p90 or with the long reach knife perk the chances are im going to die ,,,,im getting bitched at the moment with guys using the two big hand cannons..think there dirty harry lol

weapons in hardcore mode are according to me mostly one shot - one kill

maps are very good, though some a bit too big or too plain, both crying for all players to snipe. many more buildings

new perks are great, and very good, for example uav jammer pro so that clays explode later than usual or ninja pro i think when u dont recieve dmg if jumping from great heights

I must say i like the gameplay alot more than cod4 ...

Im using the Scar-H with the ACOG Scope & FMJ(40 kills with FMJ is my last challenge then ive unlocked everything for the scar) ... Stinger is my secondary weapon, Im using the Bling Pro perk, Cold Blooded perk & ninja perk with semtex grenade & x2 flashbangs.

Lvl 30 and still loving it.

really like the perks for example commando, just averaged 9knive kills/ffa match ^^

only thing i dont like so far are sniper rifles, those really old shotguns and launchers and the fall camo

play free for all for starters as the maps are small and easy to learn,,you'll rank up quicker and get the perks you want ,id start off with the m4 and do the challenges as that builds up your xp quick ,choose 3 perks and stick with them as that also gives good xp to help build up your rank ...then join the other boys in the bigger maps but be prepared to get bitched

go into the game knowing that there might be the odd bunny hopper and cheat, just enjoy the game,its great fun

id go for scar-h as soon as its available until that use one of the standard classes, they are really good

after a few nights, i still have mixed emotions. We spent five or six minutes between games trying to get everyone together which annoying the wee man outta me.

Gameplay is a bit "old hat" with a few more killstreak additions and some fancier graphics. I spent one game just hiding, afraid to go outside for AC130s, Harriers and all manners of helicopters waiting to blow my bollocks off and everytime I come out of a game there are about 30 new titles, emblems and all sorts of crap to go and look at. (the wee green new sign makes it impossible to resist looking)

It is dissapointing and didnt match the hype - even with dedicated servers, I reckon the only thing that would keep us playing it would be the fun of playing as a squad.

yeah the ac130 is a beast but you need 11 kills in a row to get it, but there easy to take down with the right weapon .

one thing i do like about this game is that there's nobody moaning over the map rotation ,no argument about the amount of random nades ,no one's getting stressed that all there doing is warning people for not playing by our rules ..no ones coming on to our forum complaining that they got unfairly kicked from the server ,,,its quite peaceful really apart from all the moaning and bragging on team speak but that will all change when the new game comes out wooohooo

i know what you mean Craic about getting all in a server
but if its only 6 its easy but most nights its 10+ and its a good laugh being all in the same server
it does take time to get everyone in but we do have a good laugh with it
i'm still enjoying it ...it aint perfect but what game is?????
cod 4 has its cheats and hackers...just listen on teamspeak any night and you will hear someone say a player is dodgy

but until bad company comes out i will seick with MW2

People who complain about camping are mad in the head in my opinion.

@damage - its not a laugh spending five - six minutes between games, you rapidly lose heart.

@ox - the reason no one complains, is because it doesnt matter what anyone does, nobody can do a thing about it. People complain when they are deeply involved and passionate, so the fact that no one is complaining, means no one gives a poop about the game or the environment

@snipe - campers find nice little spots and stay there, tanks are huge, noisy and a magnet for all sorts of weapons. For all the complaints about COD4, our server is still full every night and the supposed influx of people over to MW2 hasnt happened.

I dont want to debate it, it's not the game for me, it's a very poor offering in my opinion with far more faults than I care to deal with. If I wanted to play this game, it would be on console, where I could switch on, play ten minutes and switch off but quite frankly I expect more from the gaming experience. The ability to blow buildings up, ,drive a tank or a jet would be a flippin godsend, anything to break the monotony of what is essentially COD4 with all the good bits taken out.

I know that some maps Im crap at so I have found a couple of spots and like to get there if I can other than that we are all guilty and like its been said we have no control over the maps or who is in or how they play as its all down to IW.Nits (.NET) in my opinion they have messed this game up and a simple patch would sort it and it would be as much fun as COD4...

We dont do bad every night most of us all end up in 1 place and still have a giggle with TS as well as ripping a new B/hole for some of us?

IW.net needs to realize the extent of the problem and release a patch that will allow Dedies? not bothered about lean any more just want to be able to get into a server and play.

I am quite sure that many people have brought this up on thier forums? it all depends if they read them and listen to the people that play the game?

When I say listen we all know they didnt before the game was due, we knew what it was going to be like with reguards joining an open server with Jo Public hosting (or not in my case).

Sick of host migrating and if it cant ya get dumped back in the lobby, WTF that all about still I thought thay with the patches they put accross steam that would have been addressed by now?

I know I joke about anyone wanting tent pegs, I can say from first hand experience after having experience in the Falklands, the first gulf war and Niarobi.

In real combat situations M60 or GPMG (Gimpy) you can't run around with these weapons in real life because they are heavy weapons.

It always better to hide (camp) with a nice M85 or a laser designator in your hands.

It was common pratice to do an ACFT over 2 days with GPMG (12.7kg) Tripod (13.6kg) and Barrel Bag (10.9kg) between two of us, as well as our kit (ACFT 24 miles over 2 days at 13 minute miles)

BATUK is a training camp on the outskirts of Nairobi and they run Ex Grand Prix there which includes a free 24 hour stomp up the side of mount kenya which I hear is ahem, lovely.

Missed it myself, went on Ex Diamond Cutter to Botswana instead, which included a free 24 hour stomp through the freakin Kalahari Desert which, with a GPMG and a .50cal split between the section, was very lovely indeed, especially as they started dishing out live ammo in case of lions....:1 (67):
